1. Is a Wave Separate from the Ocean?

We think of ourselves as lonely islands floating on the sea. "I am me, you are you." This sense of separation creates loneliness and competition. But Bang-i Sasang asks: "Is a wave different from the ocean?"

A wave rises for a moment and disappears, but its essence is 100% water and the ocean itself. Humans are the same. We wear individual bodies (waves) and maintain our form for a while, but the life and consciousness flowing within us come from the "Whole Universe" (Ocean).

2. Holographic Universe: The Whole in the Part

Modern physics' "Holographic Universe Theory" has revealed a surprising fact. Even if you cut a hologram photo into pieces, the whole image is contained intact within that small piece. In other words, "The Part is the Whole."

Your mind is not small. Deep within your mind, all the information and energy of the universe are compressed. It is just your Ego that is limiting itself, saying, "I am small, I am lacking."

3. You Are a Terminal of the Universe

The easiest analogy to understand this is the "Smartphone." With a single smartphone, you can access the world's knowledge (Internet). Not because the smartphone is smart, but because it is connected to a massive Server.

Humans are "Biological Terminals connected to the Cosmic Server."

Brain: The Chipset (Hardware) that receives and processes signals.
Mind: The Network (Wi-Fi) that exchanges data with the server.
Spirit: The High-dimensional Data downloaded from the server.

You don't need to fill yourself with something more to become great. You just need to realize that you are already connected and clean the rusty connection port.

4. Concluding Series 1: From Brain to Mind

Through this 12-part journey, we have confirmed: The Brain is not your master. You are a noble being beyond mechanical reaction (Zombie). Now turn your gaze from your narrow head (Brain) to the vast Cosmos (Mind).

[Bang-i Sasang / Algorithm of the Mind Ep.11/50] The Virus Called Ego: The Trap of Self-Esteem

Summary: Bookstores are filled with books on "Self-Esteem," yet mental illness is skyrocketing. Why? Bang-i Sasang diagnoses Ego not as a shield, but as a "Firewall" blocking cosmic energy (H). Learn why "No-Self" is not extinction, but infinite expansion.

1. The Addiction to Self-Esteem

Go to a bookstore, and you will see shelves overflowing with books saying, "Raise your self-esteem," "You are special," and "Love yourself." Modern psychology teaches that a strong Ego equals mental health. But isn't it strange? People try so hard to focus on and love themselves, yet why are mental illnesses and lonely deaths increasing?

Bang-i Sasang diagnoses: "The modern disease is not caused by a lack of Ego, but by an Ego that has become too bloated." Look at cancer cells. Cancer cells do not communicate with their surroundings and are obsessed only with 'Self-growth.' Excessive Ego is the cancer of the mind.

2. Ego = Firewall

We think of Ego as an 'Armor' that protects us. But from a cosmic perspective, Ego is a 'Firewall' that blocks the inflow of external energy.

Let's look at the life formula F=H×G.

H (Wave of God): Infinite energy filling the universe.
G (My Ego/Gravity): The force of insisting on oneself.

A strong Ego means the internal pressure (G) is high. If you are full of yourself, there is no room for fresh air (H) to come in. Eventually, the energy trapped inside the walls of Ego rots and becomes toxins (entropy). This is depression and anxiety.

3. The Paradox of No-Self

Ego whispers like a computer virus: "Compare yourself with others. You must have more. Don't be ignored. I am the best." This voice does not grow you; it isolates you from the universe and makes you wither.

True happiness does not come when you prove "I am great." Rather, it comes when you put down your Ego, say "I am nothing," and feel 'Oneness' with the vast universe. A river abandons its name (River) the moment it reaches the sea. Because it abandoned its name, it finally becomes the vast Ocean.

Abandoning oneself, or 'No-Self (G=0),' is not extinction. It is 'Expansion'—emptying my small water cup to hold the seawater.

4. Delete the Virus

Look at all the pain that torments you. At the center, there is always the word 'Me'. "My money is gone," "I was ignored," "My body hurts." Unless you treat (delete) this virus called 'Me,' there is no peace.

Stop trying to raise your self-esteem. Instead, abandon your pride. Lower the firewall and open the door wide to the universe. Only then will you be reborn from an isolated 'Small Self' into a 'Big Self' that resonates with the entire cosmos.
